Missions Outreach
Missions — In addition to our regular monthly support of our Northwest District -- Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, our congregation supports several local missions. Every year we choose a special mission project which is supported with special offerings (over and above our regular tithes and giving) that are collected monthly. This year our support goes to Rev. Shauen and Krista Trump and the Tacoma Seafarers Center. Shauen is our Synod’s Mission Facilitator for Kenya and Tanzania. Operation Thanks-Giving — Operation Thanks-Giving is a free hot meal program that is served to help the people of the community. It is served every Tuesday evening at 6 pm. It is a great time to come and share. Volunteers are always welcome. Many times, free clothing is also available. This program began in November of 1985 and is funded entirely by gleaning and donations.
4US — 4US is a local group that illuminates hope for pregnant women in crisis. This is done by equipping pregnancy centers with the latest ultrasound technology and training. Good Shepherd has supported the 4US Bike Ride and Walk with a team for the past several years. (www.4US.org) |
