It seems every time you call some business, you get an automated answering machine. It gets rather frustrating not being able to talk to someone in person. Instead, you just have to sit there and listen to all the options, especially those ones that don’t apply to your situation. Just imagine what would happen if God decided to install an answering machine. Imagine praying and hearing this: “Thank you so much for calling My Father’s House. Your prayer is important to us. We have recently changed our menu, so please listen carefully to the following options. Your call may be recorded for quality assurance. For a request, press 1. For a thanksgiving, press 2. To complain, press 3. To give Me praise, press 4. To confess your sins, press 5. For all other inquiries, press 6.” So, you press 1 and hear: “We’re sorry. All of the angels are helping other customers right now. Your request is important to us. Please stay on the line. Your call will be answered in the order it was received.” Thank God that every time we call upon God in prayer, He hears us and responds. With God, you know you will never get a busy signal. You know that you will never be put on hold, and then forgotten. God takes each one of our “calls” personally. And He knows each one of us personally. Isaiah says, “Then you will call and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and He will say: ‘Here am I’” (Isa 58:9). And then He will answer our prayer in the way that is best for us. What a caring and loving God we have! Tenderly He invites us: “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me" (Ps 50:15). Blessings, Pastor Dan |
